					<description><![CDATA[That is a great article but a little slanted toward its audience, leaving a few false impressions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The author implies, for instance, that S&amp;L; deregulation was a construct of the GOP. In fact, 4 of the &#034;Keating 5&#034; senators were Democrats; McCain was the lone Republican. Deregulation received broad bipartisan support, marshalled by lobbyist dollars that cut across partisan lines. (Biden voted for it, for instance.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You know, of course, I&#039;m no fan of McCain and criticizing him about his former involvement with Keating and the S&amp;L; Crisis is more than fair. But let&#039;s not imply that white knight Dems have spent the last 25 years trying to put the brakes on the Republican&#039;s irresponsible Wall Street policies. Lobbyist dollars have a history of badly corrupting both sides.]]></description>
